A crown is often the restoration of choice for teeth that have been weakened by a large filling, a major cavity, several cracks or a root canal treatment. …. By covering and completely surrounding the tooth, the dental crown has a crimping effect that prevents the appearance of new cracks and reinforces the strength of the tooth.<\/p>\n

Dental crowns can be made of several different materials, each with its own advantages and disadvantages (all-ceramic, gold, porcelain-covered metal framework, zircon, e-max, etc.). They can be made by machining at your dentist’s office from a digital impression of your tooth (e.g. Cerec, E4D, 3Shape) or made in a laboratory from a model of your teeth obtained from a conventional impression taken in your mouth. Your dentist will be able to advise you on the type of dental crown to choose for your specific condition.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n
